Stay Humble

Dec 9, 2018    Shawn Brewer    1 Corinthians 4:7-13

As we continue to walk through the word of God through Paul to the church at Corinth, there is a message for us right here this morning.
Paul tells us that there are some things that we need to remember. First, we need to remember where we came from. Paul wanted these men and women to remember how they got their start in the faith. My grandad used to tell me, "you might be getting too big for your britches." That was a polite way of saying, don't forget where you came from. Remembering our start keeps us humble. Stay humble as you stay serving.
Secondly, Paul says, remember who you are following. If we get confused and somehow think of Jesus as our CEO, we begin to have a very rigid operation in the expressions of our faith. No matter what, Paul writes, I will be considered a fool for Jesus Christ. In all things, Pual's heart was to admonish, to correct and to build up those who were a part of his "offspring" in the faith.
The third thing, make sure it is about building others up not tearing them down. I am looking forward to sharing with you as we work through this letter. Be involved. Allow God to use you and look for a way to give back this season for Christ.
