The Role of Under-Rowing

Dec 2, 2018    Shawn Brewer    1 Corinthians 4:1-6

We are going to enjoy celebrating our Lord and our King and we are looking forward to how God is going to speak into our hearts and minds today for His glory.
This morning, you are not here by accident. God has a purpose for each of our lives and this morning is the next puzzle piece that He wants to use to build us up in the faith and in our journey to be more Christ-like. Allow God to speak through the person of the Holy Spirit that indwells every single believer all the time, to challenge you to continue your progress in the faith.
As we move into the fourth chapter of Paul's first letter to the church at Corinth, Paul speaks of the position of under-rowing. In a Roman galley, a ship of war and commerce, there would be those who rowed the ship. Usually, slaves bound by a cruel master and driven to move the vessel by their own power.
We are called to be servants, under-rowers if you will, but we don't serve a cruel taskmaster. We serve the Lord who has graciously given us all things in his life given to us on the Cross. Allow the truths of scripture to impact you and fully apply in every way to your life as we seek nothing but the glory of Christ.
