We Have A Mandate

Oct 20, 2019    Shawn Brewer    Deuteronomy 6:4-7

Today, we are going to take the next step in our series, “That They May Know…” As a body, we are seeking to focus on three things: Worship, Connection, and Service. Within those three things, the Word of God outlines a “mandate” that is for all believers.
As we wrap up today, the connection part of what we are seeking to do comes to the forefront of our thought. We have examined how we are to know there is a mission, how we stay connected in the mission, and that we have a mandate given by God for a purpose.
There are a couple of things that God set out as a mandate for the people who would follow after Him. Deuteronomy 6:4-7 is known as “The Shema”. It serves as a declaration that Israel was to follow a way, pattern, and plan and that they were to institute this declaration into all that they did.
Our challenge today is to “Hear the Word of the Lord” in the midst of our lives that are largely without margins. From the moment we hit the ground in the morning, we are running. Our time is short, our family budgets are shorter, and we spend the bulk of our time just trying to “stay afloat”.
God’s Word has an answer for that and this is what we will examine and apply today. We are glad you are here!
