Our Witness to a Lost World
Have you ever really considered how you and I are giving off an aroma of the faith to the world around us? Several times in the Bible, God's word speaks of how our lives are to be lived as a fragrant offering to him.
The same principle is true as we focus on what the world sees. The questions we have to ask ourselves is this, "Does my life of faith pass the smell test?" In other words, am I being a fragrant offering to the life of Christ within me or am I stinking it up to the high heavens?
As we continue to look at how we witness to this lost world, we are going to look at what Paul writes about the physical conduct of the believer's life. This church at Corinth was so caught up in being "forgiving" and not being "judgmental", that they were accepting and affirming of sin that even pagans looked down on.
It seems like the world today is great at pointing out a misused principle, "don't judge", every time the people of God stand up against a named sin. As we work through Paul's instruction this morning, allow the principles of right thoughts, motives and how we follow through, be applied to the lived-out areas of our lives and let's see how God will use us to earn the right to be heard as we become living witnesses of our faith.
