Running to Glorify
What a great day to be in God’s house! Today is one more day! Sometimes I forget to focus on what that really means. The way I see it, if Jesus didn’t break the Eastern sky this morning, then He has given us one more day to share the good news of His death, burial and resurrection, and that He is alive today. His purpose? He came to this earth and lived a sinless, perfect life, that we might have the gift of eternal life.
There is an old saying, “those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” There has never been a time in my life where that saying has been more true. More and more, there is evidence of people all around us pushing for the same mistakes that have been made before in history.
As we move to the 10th chapter of Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth, that was exactly what he was writing about. The church at Corinth was engaging in the behavior of the people around them. This wasn’t something new. Paul goes through and recites the history of God’s people, their mistakes, the penalties for failing to follow after God,
and the results of God’s discipline. Then he tells them, “this history was written down for our instruction.”
As we move through this part of the passage, allow the truth of recorded history to help you make wise choices as you “run the race.” I am excited about where we are and I am looking forward to what’s ahead. Let’s worship Jesus today for He is our hope and our glory.
